Maternity Hospital in Minneapolis was the first of its kind to have three divisions, including a social services and adoption agency along with a hospital that served everyone from the richest to the most disenfranchised women. Dr. Martha Ripley, who was one of the first seven women doctors in the area, founded Maternity Hospital. She was instrumental in changing how women’s health was handled. I think hers is a great story of overcoming prejudices and funding dreams that forwarded change.
