Theodore Ted Allen was a black man in St. Paul who sold insurance for American Family. He knew most of the black families in Minnesota. He was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. His father was a barber. They were one of the wealthier black families of Minnesota. His wife was a well-known singer around MN in the 1940s-1960s. They had two girls. He worked with people trying to get them out to vote.
