Mechanic Arts was the second high school in the city of St. Paul. Both Roy Wilkins, President of the NAACP, and Harry Blackmun, Supreme Court Justice, graduated from there. The school closed in 1976 but still has a M Club that meets yearly to celebrate the MA experience. MA was a multicultural high school where students from many ethnic groups got along, such as American Indians, Germans Swedes, African Americans, Hispanic and Irish.
