Other Nominations
Mary Gibbs saved the Mississippi Headwaters from being destroyed by the logging industry. If she had not done that, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the beauty of Itasca State Park and walk across the beginning of one of the biggest rivers in the world.
Mary Gibbs took over the management of Itasca State Park after the death of her father. She stopped the lumber company from cutting down the forests in Itasca & also took photographs of the early buildings and people who first settled in the park.
