Linda Ledray's determination to fight violence against women helps us understand that justice still exists and that there are people who will help us achieve it. Linda Ledray founded the Sexual Assault Resource Service, SARS, in 1977. The SARS consists of specialized nurses who provide medical and emotional help to rape victims. Linda's program transformed the treatment of rape victims by reducing the wait time in the ER, increasing the quality of evidence collection and communication with the police and prosecutor. This makes victims more likely to report the crime and seek counseling. Linda is the voice of all women and I am proud that I can work with her and absorb her determination and courage. She is my hero.
