Deceased 2005, Leonard Harkness, was State 4-H leader for over 30 years. Leonard gave leadership to a strong 4-H program based on positive youth development principles. In 1945, he joined the Minnesota Extension Service, University of Minnesota, and retired in 1980. He left a legacy of friendships, accomplishments and fond memories which were repeated by thousands of Minnesota youth . He was a leader in Rotary, Kiwanis, several religious groups and a world traveler. He had strong international ties.
