Leigh Kamman as been a broadcaster of jazz programming and promoter for this genre of music for 60 years. His commitment to the jazz connection internationally has enabled the state of Minnesota to more fully enjoy this American music with a greater awareness and appreciation. From early big band days to Image the 60s on KSTP radio to his long stay at Minnesota Public Radio -The Jazz Image TM. He is truly a gift that our state of Minnesota should be proud.
Internationally regarded as perhaps the most mindful promoter of jazz music, musicians and broadcasters' mentor, especially for young and emerging talent *and* reminder of the Greats Of America's Own Music Form. Leigh also contributes a LOT of his energies to guiding, encouraging and promoting Minnesota's home-grown musicians and composers, particularly on his MPR Saturday evening show, The Jazz Image.
