John Orth was the first person to open a brewery in St. Anthony, the John Orth Brewing Company, which later became the Grain Belt Brewery. He was also on the first Minneapolis city council.
John had one of the first breweries in the state of Minnesota. It later was combined with other breweries to form the Grain Belt Brewery.
