Joe Mauer struck out only twice in high school baseball and played football in high school. Joe Mauer was the only catcher in major league baseball to have the highest batting average in the league. Plus he's from Minnesota and I'm proud of him because I'm a catcher and he's an inspiration to me.
He is leading the majors in batting average, helps out the community and is from Minnesota. He played baseball and football for Cretin-Derham Hall high school.
The St. Paul native led the Twins to the 2006 world baseball championship.
Jake is Joe's grandfather and helped Joe get started playing sports. Joe was high school star in Minnesota and played professional in Minnesota. Jake is at Canterbury Park giving tips on the horses.
