Though not as familiar or as large as Greyhound, Jefferson Lines was founded by Carl Zelle in 1919 and named for its original route along the Jefferson Highway. Jefferson Lines was a major innovation in motorcoach travel, not to mention staying independent, all while developing a major network that now runs from Minneapolis to Texas and the Gulf Coast.
