In the late 1970s a shop class instructor, Wally Haugland not sure of spelling in Intl Falls began a program that involved the 9th grade woodworking class to spend the entire year with each student building from scratch, their own Grandfather Clock. I think the program started in 1973 or 74 and it lasted until some time in the 1980s, I believe. I built my clock in 1976 and it has travelled with me as I have moved with job assignments to Mpls, Singapore, Tokyo, Pennslyvania and now back to Mpls. I believe there is a clock in the MN Governor's mansion or the capital building and I think I heard or read that one was also sent to the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
