Dr. Ian Barbour is a retired professor of physics and religion at Carleton College in Northfield, MN. He is one of the world's leading thinkers and writers in the field of science and religion. Among his books are When Science Meets Religion: Enemies, Strangers, or Partners? and Religion in an Age of Science. In 1999 he received the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion. The Templeton Prize is the equivalent of the Nobel Prize -- the Nobels do not award a prize in religion. Dr. Barbour's work has influenced theologians and scientists alike, encouraging respectful dialogue and openness among all parties. He is one of the world's great thinkers in this field. He is a member of the First United Church of Christ in Northfield.
