Originally an experiment of one Frank Peavey, himself a major grain merchant out of Minneapolis, his idea changed the storage of grain between harvest and transport for the better, essentially saving elevator owners millions in insurance premiums what with many grain elevators traditionally being of wood construction--as well as being flammable and improved quality in spite of initial skepticism.
