According to H.L. Mencken in his book American Language, Charles N. Chadbourn coined the word "realtor" in November 1915 as a new title for those who sell real estate. The term was adopted by the National Association of Real Estate Boards. Mr. Chadbourn sold real estate in Minneapolis.
