Chain Saw

Much of Minnesota was covered with vast forests from time immemorial. The role of the timber industry in the development of the state is well-documented. Nothing more clearly represents the ability to transform the forest landscape and utilize the resource than the chain saw. While today loggers rely more heavily on larger machines to operate, no logger remains without a chain saw and few homeowners in rural areas lack one as well. The chain saw has transformed the state through the simple expedient of putting in a single person's hands a powerful tool for changing the landscape.
