Bertha Smith was a teacher in the Minneapolis school system and one of the first black teachers. She is also a community activist and she works in the church. She works with people very well. She's been here a long time. I met her when I was in Baptist Youth Congress working with youth in the 1940s. I've always talked with her and respected her. We all worked together in church work and in work outside of the church.
