He settled in Forest Lake, MN along with his parents, brothers and sister. He donated land for a school. He helped to start what is now Faith Lutheran Church. He donated the land for the Scandinavian cemetery. Along with his brother Ole he opened the first store in Forest Lake. His sister Lottie was a midwife. He and the other immigrants shaped the cities and towns we live in today.
