Anton Gag was born in Bohemia in 1858 and emigrated to New Ulm, MN. His paintings can be found in the state capitol, MHS and private collections. He is most recognized for his panoramas and paintings of the Battle of New Ulm. He painted pastoral scenes, still lifes, portraits and religious scenes. He is the father of Wanda Gag, famous author and lithographer. Anton was a successful and innovative photographer. He died in 1908.
